My Daily Driving
I drive most days to work in my '05 3-series. It's an auto, it's not well-powered compared to the other cars on the road, it's your basic daily-driver vehicle. The one thing going for it among all other cars I've driven (which may not be much if you don't count rental cars) is that this BMW gives me an immediate feel of the road unlike any other car before. It just communicates the road to you, through the reaction of the car to your steering and acceleration, on turns, on straightaways, on lane changes, on anything that those 4 tires touch.
I'm on Steptronic all the time while in the city and in traffic on the highway. It is quite a boring drive when you're looking at red tail lights in front of you on about 90% of the drive to and from work so you might as well get in some measure of "interactivity" with your vehicle. You spend enough time in your life driving, might as well make it a little interesting as well!
This blog will be about anything interesting I encounter in my daily commutes. I drive one of the busiest highways during rush hour period (CA Hwy 101) but also take a very scene route through CA Hwy 280 as well that provides ample opportunity for some aggressive "spirited" driving as my friend Andreas likes to put it.
I don't have great desires to own a super car or a superior performance automobile. I just want to drive what is a good, reliable car that allows me to enjoy the drive as well. If I want to race or push a vehicle to its limits, I think I'll go ahead and buy a Playstation 3, wait for Gran Turismo 5 to come out and maybe think about getting a driving wheel controller for it. In the meantime, I'll do what 99% of the population does and that is just DRIVE their car.
Enjoy the ride!
